Spiders In Peregian Springs
Wherever we look we can find spiders. Peregian Springs tropical climate gives us a mix of different spiders. Most spiders in Peregian have a short lifespan. They emerge from the egg sac and rely on small insects for food (especially in spring through to summer when the insects are emerging). This is why you will notice more spiders in the spring and summer months. Keeping on top of your pest treatments throughout the year will help eliminate your baby insects that feed your growing spiders.
Common Spiders In Peregian Springs
Black House Spider (Badumna longinqua) – Can be found in window frames but love cool dark areas. especially under bark and trees that have been attacked by borers. The webs are similar to the funnel web spider but found in higher areas, not on the ground.
Red House Spider (Nesticodes rufipes) – These small spiders can be found spread throughout the home. Tends to set up web in undisturbed corners of the home like eaves, in between door frames and corners of skirting boards.
Brown Huntsman Spider (Heteropoda jugulans)
Grey Huntsman Spider (Holconia immanis) – This spider is a frequent visitor to most homes. Removing these spiders to outside is often a waste of time as they can easily get back in with narrow cracks in the walls and under doors. Spraying them is also often a waste of time as they can run for cover very quickly.
Keeping on top of your pest treatments throughout the year will help eliminate your baby insects that feed your growing spiders. If you leave spiders alone there is a good chance you wont come to any harm. Check your shoes before putting them on if you leave them outside.
